Our Wedding - Ceremony
The ceremony was the part of our wedding day that we were most anxious about. Phil and I decided to write our own vows to one another and I was so nervous I wouldn't be able to get through them without crying.
Phil said his vows first and they were such a tough act to follow! He teared up and had just about all of our guests crying too. He ended his vows with a Dr. Seuss quote that so perfectly described our love: "We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love."
Next, I also ended up getting through my vows (crying intermittently too but it was okay because he had already cried first) and before we knew it, we had officially tied the knot! When it came time for our reception, I remember breathing a huge sigh of relief because it had finally hit me that wedding planning pressure was officially over. I couldn't wait to enjoy every minute of the rest of our day.
Thanks for bearing with me on all of these lengthy wedding posts--I can't help myself! Very excited to share a photo montage of our ceremony with you today.
A very talented friend of ours did all of the graphic design for our wedding--including these rustic-inspired ceremony programs. It was so much fun planning out our vision for them with him so that they would match our wedding invitations and the rest of our rustic vintage decor.
My brother, Jordan walked my paternal Grandma down the aisle to kick off our ceremony. I love this photo of her waving — too cute.
Next came my maternal Grandparents. I love that they both wore blush to match the wedding party. This is such a sweet photo of them too.
I couldn't believe how many family members and friends were able to come all the way out to California even though most of them are east coast based (or live internationally).
I was unbelievably humbled by all of the kindness and love that day. I was especially grateful to have my grandparents with us.
Next came Phil's Grandma, cousin (above) and Step Mom and Dad (below). His Father was his best man which was the sweetest thing.
Then our wedding party started walking in--made up of Phil's two sisters, my sister, cousins and some of our closest friends. This was our Best Man (Phil's Dad) walking my Maid of Honor (my sister, Adena) down the aisle. I love both of their expressions in this photo.
Our flower girl stole the show! She looked absolutely adorable in her all-white ensemble and flower crown.
I love this photo of my parents. They just celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary this week and they have shown me what a successful, beautiful marriage can look like. I'm forever grateful.
