What Mother’s Day Means to Me
Happy almost Mother's Day! While flowers and chocolates are always a good idea for moms everywhere, today, I'm rounding up some of my favorite gift ideas for moms who may be in the market for a little something extra.
I'm also sharing some great sales going on right now in case you're trying to nail down some last-minute gifts. Topping today's post off with thoughts about what Mother's Day means to me--especially since it's my first one!
Gift Ideas For The Mom Boss
Sharing a bunch of potential gift ideas above and below for the amazing women and moms in your life. I'm loving these dainty studs from Madewell that are the perfect for a mom--especially if you pick out her child's initials.
Also loving this adorable "Strong As A Mother" tee and this amazing brow gel (which I happen to be addicted to). If your mom likes simple, easy-to-use makeup, this is the best eyebrow gel to introduce her to.
Having great, thick eye brows can take years off of your face and this gel is the golden ticket.Another favorite is the striped A-line dress above from JCrew.
I'm loving the classic print for spring (I shared more about that here), as well as the oversized bow around the waist.

Mother's Day Memories
Mother's Day has always been a special day in our family. Sharing some of my favorite family photos above. How cute were my parents?
Growing up in upstate New York, Mother's Day always felt like a kick-off of spring. I remember the most beautiful flowers blooming everywhere and the freezing cold winter (which sometimes lasted through May) finally starting to thaw out.
Our grandparents would drive up from a couple hours away to celebrate with us. My grandfather would bring the sweetest corsages for all of the moms in our family to wear.
These corsages and all of the special attention paid to my mother and grandmothers demonstrated to me from a young age just how important the matriarchs in our lives were.I come from a pretty big family (especially on my mom's side): My maternal grandmother has six children, 21 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren (below).
My paternal grandmother has two children, five grandchildren and one great grandchild. There are three kids including myself in my immediate family. Sharing a recent photo of us below (with my hubby and my sister's boyfriend) from a recent post.It took some extremely strong women to raise all of these kids!
My First Mother's Day As A Mom
This Mother's Day, Phil, Naiya and I will celebrate making it through eight months of our crazy life change into parenthood. I can't believe that a year ago, I was pregnant with Naiya and had only three months to go until she was born. Time is flying.
We look forward to celebrating all of the amazing moms in our life and we will be thinking of our friends and family members whose mother's have passed away too soon or whose mother's have not been present in their lives. We'll also be thinking of all of our friends trying to become moms and have babies and friends who have lost babies.
Over the past few years, we've seen it all and we know how very real the struggle can be.We know this day isn't the easiest for everyone and that this should always be noted.
