Basic Tee + Shearling Boots

Jumping into our second week back to work after the New Year. After everything that happened last week, for all of our sakes, I'm hoping it will be uneventful! Since Naiya and Sadie are non-stop these days, we've been trying our best to take easy day trips into nature every weekend. Throughout the winter months in LA, you can drive less than an hour from our house and end up in the snow.  Just after the holidays, we took our girls to Mount Baldy for the first time and they fell in love with winter weather. They were bundled up like the cutest little snow bunnies and had the best time playing in the snow. Today, we're sharing some recent snaps from our Mount Baldy day trip. We started out in 70 degree weather in LA and less than an hour later, the girls were running around in the snow like they were Elsa and Ana from 'Frozen.'  Naturally, Naiya was belting "Let It Go" the whole time. So many LA-ers must have had the same idea regarding seeing "real" winter because the whole snowbank en route up the mountain was full of families like ours. In fact, there were mini family selfie shoots in the snow for what seemed like miles.  It looked like a literal scene out of an SNL 'Californian's' skit.

As a native New Yorker who grew up in crazy, seemingly everlasting snowstorms, I had to laugh at myself for taking this road trip. I'll blame it on Pandemic times! At least our kids had the time of their lives enjoying "winter" for about 30 minutes. Someday when it's safe enough, I can't wait for them to try tubing and other "real" winter activities.

Shearling Boots I'm Loving

I'm loving these shearling boots (similar here) because they're so comfy, warm and perfect for winter. The fur inside keeps your feet toasty in cold weather and somehow, it regulates in warmer temps and keeps your feet comfy and cool. I've been wearing them throughout LA "winter" like I would usually wear Uggs. They're insanely comfy and make me feel like I'm walking on a cloud. Outfit-wise, I wore my fave distressed jeans of the moment and basic white tee I've been living in. I layered on a winter coat for our trip to the snow but in LA, I wore a classic denim jacket. Photography: Azusa Takano
