Conrad Bora Bora Nui Review

LA style blogger Relish by Arielle stays at the Conrad in Bora Bora

A few weeks back, Phil and I went on the dreamiest trip to Bora Bora in French Polynesia. It was our first trip without both kids (AHHH!) and our first international trip since the Pandemic started.  Since the past couple years has taught us there's no time like the present, we decided to celebrate Phil's 40th birthday in paradise. Today, I'm sharing my first outfit post from the trip and details surrounding where we chose to stay and why.

Where We Stayed In Bora Bora:

First things first: there are #nofilters necessary in Bora Bora--no matter where you stay. The water is crystal-clear and the color ranges from pure turquoise to bright blue depending on the depth of the water. I had trouble capturing the true colors on camera because they were like nothing I've ever seen before in my life. It's the perfect getaway for babymoons, honeymoons, and everything in between. We stayed at the Conrad Bora Bora Nui and it was incredible. The resort is built right into the most incredible lagoon atop a coral reef.  We visited the St. Regis during our trip too which was also epic and we've heard incredible things about the Four Seasons. The service and views throughout all of Bora Bora are top-notch so no matter where you stay, you really can't go wrong. That said, since Bora Bora is a collection of small islands and each resort is built onto a separate one,  you will most likely stay at your resort the entire time unless you pay to book special boats between them. Once you land in Bora Bora, each hotel has its own boat straight to your resort. Of course you can also book fun excursions throughout your stay like swimming with sharks and sting rays, pedal boating, flyboarding, or paddle boarding. That said, you always come back to home base! For anyone who feels the need to venture off their resort like Phil and I, you can also reserve space on a boat to the main island. There, you can rent a vespa and ride around, exploring the Tahitian pearl shops, restaurants and artistan shops.

Conrad Nui: Room Breakdown

Guests at the Conrad stay in their own luxury villas--most of which come with their own personal docks built right off of them.  Some villas also have their own infinity pools looking out at the water. You can jump right off your personal dock into the lagoon and go snorkeling which is pure magic. We saw sea turtles, sting rays, countless tropical fish, and even (harmless) baby sharks. You can book a villa with a view of the mountains or a view that looks right out into the unobstructed gorgeous lagoon. I could have gone either way but in the end, our villa had a lagoon view that looked like something out of the movie "Truman Show."

I kept thinking about the scene at the end where Jim Carey realizes he's on a movie set and he sails out to the horizon to touch the sky. That's where I felt like we were. There are also villas built into the mountain that have infinity pools but that are not on the actual lagoon. While there is a price difference between rooms that are not on the lagoon and those which have a "garden view," if you're able to splurge on the lagoon view, I'd suggest you go for it because it's a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience.

If splurging is not in the cards for you, you will still have an incredible time--especially since the lagoon is only a short walk away. For those traveling with big families or friends, the Conrad also has giant villas you can rent out which are at least two stories. This was actually where Paris Hilton stayed on her recent honeymoon (below) and it's beyond epic.

Food & Luxury Room Service

Room service in Bora Bora just has a different ring to it. We ordered the most delicious tropical fruits, fresh fish, and everything in between straight to our villa and we were in heaven. We ate outside, overlooking the water and everything arrived so beautifully. The restaurants at the Conrad are delicious too but we personally loved ordering in because we were able to enjoy all that the villa had to offer. Talk about morning coffee with a view!

Our villa was perfectly positioned for us to see both sunrise and sunset and I'm already ready to go back stat.As far as restaurants go, there is a beautiful breakfast and buffet available at a French Restaurant positioned at the center of the resort. We also had the pleasure of eating there at night and it was delish. We also loved the Sushi and Chinese restaurants respectively.  All-in-all, everything was so fresh and we were super impressed.

I'm a gluten free vegetarian and Phil is the opposite and the Conrad had perfect items on the menu for us both. This almost never happens when we travel! If you're someone who loves snacking throughout the day, I'd suggest bringing some of your favorite snacks with you on your trip. The Conrad had one small gift shop that didn't have too many snacks available and every night, this was something that would have been great to have.

What To Pack:

In terms of what to pack with you for Bora Bora, I'd suggest about 3-5 bathing suits, depending on how long you're staying. The truth is, you really don't need much for this trip. But--if you're a self-proclaimed over-packer like I am, you'll want a few fun cover-ups, a couple pairs of sandals, a pair of sneakers, shorts, tanks, and some comfy, chic dresses for dinner. I'd suggest bringing at least one rash-guard to wear whenever you're swimming or out on the water because the sun is so strong. It's also a good idea to bring your own goggles, snorkle and fins, though resorts like the Conrad do have them to rent.On this particular day, I wore this bright, patterned dress I scooped up from Zara. I was all about wearing prints and bright colors in Bora Bora. Linking to a number of other similar looks below I'm also loving. I topped off the look with a gold headpiece (similar here), gold sunnies, a handmade bag I scooped up from a local artisan on the Main Island, and comfy sandals ($14.99 at Target!).

Thanks so much for reading my review of the Conrad Bora Bora Nui. Stay tuned as this really is just the start; I have a number of posts coming up showcasing more about our experience and what I wore along the way. In case you missed it, here is my first Bora Bora post showcasing a fun photoshoot you can do (perfect for honeymoons and babymoons!). If you have any specific questions about our trip, please don't hesitate to leave a comment below! I appreciate you stopping by!
