Black & White Top + Work Travel Fiasco

Typing away from Vegas where I can’t believe I ACTUALLY landed tonight after the craziest travel day. I was planning on flying out of Los Angeles this morning to attend the CES convention for work. More specifically, I had a big industry dinner tonight at 6:30pm I couldn’t miss so made sure my flight was early enough in the day so that I wouldn’t be rushing.

Unfortunately, all morning, my Southwest flight kept getting delayed until it was eventually canceled. Over the holidays, I had heard horror stories about Southwest canceling everyone’s flights, causing tons of travel issues across the country. I naively thought these issues must have been resolved by now, especially since the holidays were behind us. Unfortunately, I was so wrong!

I contemplated driving to Las Vegas but it was pouring rain and I was worried that there would be too much traffic and challenging road conditions. I quickly looked for other flight options.

I quickly learned that every single flight from Burbank and LAX to Vegas had been canceled except for one leaving at 4:35pm. Of course, there was only one seat left on this one so I quickly booked it and prayed for the best. After all, it was the only remaining possibility of me making it to Vegas in time for my dinner.

For the next few hours, my new flight kept getting delayed too. I was on pins and needles because the latest delay was showing that the plane would land 30 minutes into the cocktail hour for tonight’s event, and 30 minutes before the sit-down dinner portion. Even if the plane landed on time without further delays, I’d have to book it from the gate to a cab, to the restaurant with my luggage in tow—taking everything into dinner with me.

All of the above said, I’m surprised and excited to share that somehow, it all worked out! Nothing like starting the new year off with a lot of extra adrenaline and anxiety! I’m so grateful I was able to attend tonight’s dinner and I’m excited for the rest of this week’s events too.

Outfit Of The Day

I packed a number of business casual and business formal looks for CES. The outfit pictured in this post happens to be one of my faves. I’m a big fan of this black and white top—especially because it has the cutest voluminous sleeves (similar here).

This top happens to be one of the many looks that is available with the Relish Style Box I posted about recently (more here).

If you’re not yet familiar, I recently launched a style box that provides you with an entire virtual wardrobe you can tap into at any time to borrow and/or purchase. There are an endless supply of outfit options to choose from in sizes that run from XS to 4X. The first month is completely free to try out and then the style box costs $50/month. It happens to be the most affordable style box out there.

Today, I paired this top with my favorite black tailored trousers, Cinderella heels, white retro sunnies, and a classic handbag.

Have you had any crazy travel stories recently?

If so, tell me all the things in the comment section below. As always, thanks so much for stopping by!
